This is an introduction to Biblical Hebrew.
There are two main courses of Hebrew study that can be studied today, Biblical and Modern.
This course is Biblical Hebrew as opposed to Modern Hebrew. Hebrew as a language died out and was not used for speaking for over a thousand years! With the formation of the Israel, there was a strong desire to bring Hebrew back to being a spoken language. Biblical Hebrew was used as the foundation for forming modern Hebrew but there are distinct differences.
This course is a course in Biblical Hebrew and so the aim is to help you be able to read, write and translate ancient Hebrew, specifically the Hebrew Bible. It is not conversational Hebrew and while it will help, it will not give you the ability to communicate with people today in the Hebrew language.
